Butzie is a loving senior dachshund with a heart full of affection and plenty of personality. She adores being close to her people and will happily spend her days curled up at your feet, beside you on the couch, or snoozing in one of her many dog beds. She follows her foster everywhere and thrives on companionship and attention.

Please note: Butzie will chase cats outdoors and can be food aggressive with other dogs, so she should always be fed separately.

- House trained
- Uses a doggy door beautifully
- Will use potty pads if outdoor access isn’t available
- No accidents in foster care
- Enjoys walks and does well on leash (though she pulls a little)
- Not crate trained and strongly dislikes crates
- Sleeps peacefully in her own bed next to her foster’s bed
- Loves being tucked under a blanket at bedtime
🚗 Personality
- Enjoys car rides and will let you know when she needs a potty break
- Barks when meeting new people, but quickly warms up and wants pets
- Generally quiet unless another dog starts barking
- May experience some separation anxiety when transitioning to a new home
- Thunderstorms and fireworks scare her, but she’s comforted by sitting on her person’s lap
🍽️ Important Care Information
Butzie has worked hard to lose weight and has become more active and energetic as a result. She currently weighs 18 lbs. and should ideally be around 16 lbs. Maintaining her weight-loss journey will be extremely important for her long-term health.
She gains weight easily, so her future family will need to be committed to:
- Careful portion control
- Healthy treats such as carrots and cucumbers
- Limiting snacks
- Regular exercise
Due to extensive dental work, Butzie can no longer eat kibble or hard biscuits and will require a soft-food diet.

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.
The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
