⚠️ Important Things to Know
Must be the only dog in the household.
Extremely possessive of her food, toys, and favorite people. While she has never shown aggression toward her humans, she will absolutely fight with another dog if she feels challenged around her belongings. Her foster family has needed to keep their dogs separated from Mabel for everyone’s safety.
Experiences significant separation anxiety. She is currently taking Trazodone, which has helped her relax and feel more secure in her foster home. She does not do well in a crate, as confinement increases her stress level considerably.
When meeting new people, Mabel can be shy and cautious. She may bark, keep her distance, and can attempt to nip if a stranger tries to pet or pick her up before trust has been established. However, with patience and time, she becomes a loving, devoted companion.
Adoptable Dachshund Mabel, 10 years old, 17.4 lbs.
