Adoptable Dachshund Sammy II (26-115)

Adoptable Dachshund Sammy II (26-115)

Age: 5 Years
Weight: 14 lbs

If you’re looking for a true low-rider with a heart full of love, Sammy II may be the perfect match for you!

Sammy came into foster care after his beloved 95-year-old owner could no longer care for him. Despite this major life change, Sammy has adjusted beautifully and has proven to be a sweet, affectionate, and devoted companion.

🐶 Compatibility

  • ✅ Likes other dogs
  • ⚠️ Unsure about large dogs
  • ⚠️ Unsure about cats
  • ⚠️ Unsure about children
  • ✅ Friendly meeting new people
  • ✅ Friendly meeting other dogs

Sammy lived as an only dog before entering foster care but has done wonderfully with his foster siblings. It took him a few days to adjust to having dogs around all the time, but he has settled in nicely and enjoys their company.

🚶 Training & Daily Life

  • ✅ Potty trained when taken out regularly
  • ✅ Crate trained
  • ✅ Walks well on a leash
  • ✅ Enjoys walks
  • ✅ Uses dog beds
  • ❤️ Prefers sleeping in bed with his person
  • ❤️ Loves cuddling on the couch or chair

Sammy doesn’t mind his crate, but he definitely prefers having the freedom to stay close to his people. He likes his foster to accompany him into the yard and would likely benefit from a securely fenced backyard. He hasn’t had much success doing his business while on a leash, so a fenced yard would be a big plus.

🚗 Car Rides

  • ✅ Enjoys car rides
  • ❤️ Prefers to ride close to his person

Sammy loves going places but would much rather ride on your lap, than be strapped in away from you.

🔊 Other Notes

  • Moderate separation anxiety
  • Not an excessive barker
  • Occasional sock thief 🧦

Sammy is used to having someone around most of the time and can become a little anxious when left alone for long periods. He isn’t destructive, but he definitely prefers companionship whenever possible.

🩺 Vetting Completed

  • ✅ Vet Check
  • ✅ One or More Vaccines
  • ✅ Nails Trimmed

We depend on donations from caring people, like you, to make a difference in the lives of dogs. As an all volunteer organization, you can rest assured that the donations go directly to help the dogs. Thank you!

🐾 Sammy would do best in a home where someone is home most of the day, and a fenced yard would be a wonderful bonus for this sweet little guy.
