Lexi is an adorable little dachshund mix with a huge heart and an even bigger love for her people. This sweet girl is looking for a loving home where she can be someone’s loyal shadow, cuddle buddy, and best friend.
🏡 About Lexi
🐕 Dog Friendly: Yes, with small dogs only! Lexi would do best as an only dog or with one calm small canine sibling. She was attacked by a large dog in the past and has developed a fear response toward large dogs.
🐱 Cats: Yes! She has no issues with cats unless they interfere with her food or crate space.
👶 Children: Good with young children. Older children are unknown.
🦮 Leash Skills: Walks beautifully with a harness and leash and loves her daily strolls.
🚽 House Trained: Yes! Lexi will bark and tap at the door when she needs to go outside. She may need a little time to learn the routine in her new home.
🚗 Car Rides: One of her favorite things! Lexi is always ready to hop in the car for an adventure.
🛏️ Sleeping & Crate Habits
🧸 Lexi absolutely loves her crate, blankets, and cozy spaces. Her crate is her safe place when her person is busy, and she sleeps peacefully through the night either in her crate or snuggled up with her human.
🌩️ Thunderstorms are the exception. During storms, she prefers to be out of her crate, wrapped up in her favorite blanket, and close to her person.
❤️ She especially loves burrowing under blankets and being as close to her family as possible.
🍖 Food & Toys
⚠️ Lexi does have food aggression and should always be fed separately from other pets.
🦴 She loves toys and treats but can become protective of them if another dog tries to take them. Proper management makes this easy to handle.
😊 Personality
Lexi is a sweet, gentle girl who loves attention, belly rubs, and affection. She knows basic commands and enjoys showing her love through kisses and cuddles.
🐷 When she’s relaxing, she makes the cutest little piggy noises, but once she’s asleep, she’s quiet as a mouse.
💛 She can be a little cautious if she feels threatened, and the fur along her back may stand up when she’s nervous, but she is not aggressive unless she feels she must defend herself.
🛋️ Lexi is the ultimate lap dog. Whether you’re sitting on the couch, working around the house, or sleeping in bed, she wants to be right beside you.
🌳 She also loves exploring the yard, so a fenced yard would be a wonderful bonus for her.
🧹 One funny quirk: Lexi absolutely does NOT like vacuum cleaners! She’ll chase them around trying to show them who’s boss.

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.
The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
