Adoptable Dachshund Mix Porky Pig

Adoptable Dachshund Mix Porky Pig

Adoptable Dachshund Mix Porky Pig (affectionately called “Pig”) is a 2-year-old, 23-pound French Bulldog who’s as unique and lovable as they come. True to his name, Pig is known for his adorable snorts and snuffles that make everyone around him smile. But beyond the cute noises, this boy is full of love, resilience, and joy to share.

Pig is paralyzed in his hind end and uses a wheelchair, which he’s still learning to navigate. On walks, he’s a little “all over the place” right now, but he’s improving every day and enjoys the adventure. He also wears a belly band when he’s out and about in the home, and while he isn’t house-trained, his foster family has established a good routine: Pig has his bladder expressed three times daily, followed by a quick clean-up to keep him fresh and healthy. He will need a forever family who’s patient and willing to learn what works best for him.

Pig gets along wonderfully with other dogs—he’s happy to gently play if they want to or leave them be if they prefer their space. He especially loves big dogs! Pig is also great with kids; he currently lives with children (ages 5 and 7) who respect dogs’ boundaries, and he’s done very well with them. While we haven’t seen him with cats, his easygoing nature suggests he may do just fine.

Pig makes it easy with his laid-back, happy-go-lucky personality. He:

  • Sleeps quietly in his kennel (and enjoys his comfy dog bed).

  • Is neutral in the car and doesn’t bark excessively.

  • Shows no signs of separation anxiety, fear of thunder, or food/toy aggression.

  • Loves meeting new people and dogs—he’s friendly, not shy, and always ready for attention!

Pig is also discovering the joy of toys and playtime, especially with his foster sister. He’s equally content snuggling up for a rest after some fun.

Vetting and Medical

In our care, Pig has received a vet check, dental exam, vaccines, nail trimming, and flea preventatives. He is on monthly heartworm preventatives and has been neutered.

We depend on donations from caring people, like you, to make a difference in the lives of dogs. As an all volunteer organization, you can rest assured that the donations go directly to help the dogs. Thank you!
