Adoptable Dachshund Toki – Low Rider Dachshund Rescue of Florida

Meet Toki: A Little Doxie with a Big Personality!

Say hello to Toki, a 4-year-old purebred dachshund with the most soulful eyes and a whole lot of personality packed into his 9-pound frame. Toki might be small, but his heart is mighty—and he’s looking for a forever home that can give him the love, structure, and understanding he needs to truly thrive.

Toki’s Favorites:
Lap time with his person
Long walks with plenty of sniff breaks
Zoomies in the backyard (on leash please—squirrels beware!)
Snuggling in his crate at night with a cozy cover
Kong toys, stuffed animals, and treat time after potty breaks
Peaceful car rides (he chills in the back seat like a pro)

What You Need to Know About Toki:

  • Crate trained champ: He sleeps soundly in his covered crate and feels safe there.
  • Not house trained yet: He’s working on it, but for now he needs frequent potty breaks (including overnight).
  • No separation anxiety: Toki is an independent little guy when it comes to alone time!
  • Not a fan of cats or small kids: He needs a home with no cats and no young children.
  • Needs leash control on walks: Squirrels and stray cats are his sworn enemies, so be ready to hold on tight!
  • Cautious with men: He warms up with time and love, but barks and growls at first.
  • Not food or toy aggressive: Sharing isn’t an issue—just respect his space.
  • Enjoys being petted—but on his terms: He’ll give you a nudge when he’s ready for cuddles!
  • IMPORTANT‼️: Toki came to the rescue with a history of biting. We do not know what specifically triggers Toki but he cannot sleep in the bed with his humans and shouldn’t be woken up.

He would do best in a quiet, cat-free home with a fenced yard, and an adopter who understands that love sometimes looks like giving a dog space to grow. He may not be for everyone—but for the right person, Toki will be a devoted, cuddly companion for years to come.

His current foster says, “If I didn’t have cats, I’d adopt him in a heartbeat. Toki deserves the very best—and I know his person is out there.” 💕

Could you be the one Toki’s been waiting for? 🐶❤️

Adoptable Dachshund Toki – 4 yrs, 9 lbs

Toki is a loyal, affectionate little “tootsie” who’s been through a lot and just wants a home that will give him structure and patience. He’s had a tough experience before with a foster who allowed him into the bed—Toki was startled and bit when moved suddenly, so his new family must respect his nighttime crate routine. Adoption fee $300.

If you believe you could provide a safe and loving forever home for this dog, please fill out an application with the dogs’ name on it.

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.

The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
