🌼 Meet Perfect Penny! 🌼
Also known as Penelope, a sunshine-loving, cuddle-obsessed doxie ready to steal your heart (and maybe your lap).
At just 4 years old and a petite 12 pounds, Penelope — lovingly nicknamed “Perfect Penny” — is everything you’d want in a canine companion: sweet, gentle, goofy, loyal, and adorably affectionate.

🐶 A Social Butterfly
Penny is super dog-friendly and absolutely lights up around other pups! She’s especially playful with dogs her size and has a wonderfully submissive and respectful nature. While she hasn’t lived with big dogs since coming to the rescue, she’s shown zero hesitation or worry when seeing them on walks — we think she’d do just fine with larger furry friends!
🐱 Cats? Kids? Count Her In!
Penny hasn’t lived with cats or young children in her foster home, but based on her gentle and easygoing personality, we think she’d be a wonderful companion for both. She shows only passing curiosity toward neighborhood cats and would likely enjoy the love and attention of respectful kiddos. She’s incredibly submissive and adores affection — a perfect match for a loving family!
🚶♀️ Walks, Zoomies, and Sunbathing
Morning walks? Penny’s favorite part of the day! She gets the cutest zoomies when she sees the leash come out and would love a home where she can explore a backyard and bask in the sun between adventures.

🏡 House & Crate Trained Superstar
Penny is fully house trained and hasn’t had a single accident in her foster home — not even once! She’s also completely crate trained, snoozing quietly through the night in her crate when needed. That said, she’s so well-behaved that free-roaming while her humans are away hasn’t been an issue at all.
At bedtime, Penny has two modes: cuddle monster by day, burrower by night. If she gets to sleep in the big bed, she dives straight under the covers to cozy up by your feet. No bedtime snuggles required — though she’ll give you more than enough during the day to make up for it!
🚗 Road Trip Ready
Penny loves the car and is always ready for a ride — so be sure to keep those doors closed, or she’ll happily hop in uninvited. She’s fearless and curious, always excited to meet new people and see new things.
💗 The Total Package
Penny rarely barks (just a polite alert when someone’s at the door), doesn’t have an aggressive bone in her body, and is as affectionate as they come. She lives for kisses, cuddles, and being close to her people. Seriously — if you’re sitting, Penny’s on you. Her dream day? Lounging in the sun, giving kisses, catching flies with her mouth, and being your adorable little shadow.
Vetting and Medical
In our care, Penny has received all of the following: Vet Check, 1 or more Vaccines, Skin treatments/infections, Nails Trimmed, Flea Treatments, Heart Worm testing and medication. The vet found crystals in Penny’s urine but these have been eradicated with kidney prescription food. Although the vets believe that the crystals were caused by the type of diet being fed in her previous home, they strongly recommend that she stay on the prescription food to avoid any issue. Penny also had a double ear infection when she came into the rescue. The vets suggest a preventative at home ear cleaning every 2 weeks. Penny also has pretty severe allergies and take apoquel daily.
We depend on donations from caring people, like you, to make a difference in the lives of dogs. As an all volunteer organization, you can rest assured that the donations go directly to help the dogs. Thank you!

Penny the Dachshund – 4 yrs, 12 lbs
Penny would thrive in a home with one or two mid-energy dogs who love to play but respect boundaries, a yard for her to sunbathe and explore, a family that’s home often — she just wants to be near her people all day and humans who don’t mind being showered in love (and licks!) If you’re looking for a loyal, loving little dog with a heart of gold and the manners of a seasoned lady, Penny might just be your perfect match. Adoption Fee $300
If you believe you could provide a safe and loving forever home for this dog, please fill out an application with the dogs’ name on it.
*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.
The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
