Adoptable Mix Hopper – Low Rider Dachshund Rescue of Florida

Meet Hopper! Hopper is only one year old, weighs approximately 13 pounds, and cannot wait to meet his forever family. He’s a sweet, energetic little guy who is sure to bring lots of love and excitement to his forever home.

Hopper has done well with the other small dogs in his foster home and loves to play with them. We are unsure how Hopper would do around larger dogs, cats, or children as he has not been around any since coming to the rescue. We wouldn’t recommend a home with small children for him since he is so young and has so much energy.

Hopper enjoys going for walks and does a good job on leash. He is still working on getting fully house-trained but has made great progress since coming to his foster home. Hopper knows to go potty when taken outside, but he hasn’t yet learned how to communicate when he needs to go outside so he will have accidents inside here and there. He is crate-trained and does well when crated. He has shown no food or toy aggression while in his foster home, but he can get a little protective over his people. He is also not a big barker. Hopper shows no signs of separation anxiety and doesn’t mind spending some time apart from his people.

Hopper is used to sleeping in a crate in his foster family’s bedroom, but we think he’d love a forever home where he could sleep on the big bed with his humans! He is also used to being crated for car rides and he does well for them. When it comes to meeting new people, it can take him a bit to get comfortable and fully warm up but once he does, he’s happy to make new friends. His approach to meeting new dogs is similar, it just takes him a bit to really warm up. Healthwise, Hopper is a very healthy little guy with no noted issues!

Adoptable Mix Hopper

Adoptable Mix Hopper 1 year, 13 pounds

Hopper’s ideal home would be with someone who is committed to working on further house-training and obedience training with him. It would also include a fenced in backyard, as he loves to run around in the one at his foster home! He would greatly benefit from active adopters who have the energy to match his high energy level. Adoption fee $300

If you believe you could provide a safe and loving forever home for this dog, please fill out an application with the dogs’ name on it.

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.

The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
