Female Dachshund Stella – Low Rider Dachshund Rescue of Florida

Meet Female Dachshund Stella! Stella is 2 years old, weighs approximately 12 pounds, and cannot wait to meet her forever family. Stella does need to be an only dog, but she will give her forever people the love of 100 dogs! She is a very smart, very affectionate pup who will add so much love and life to her forever home. 

In her forever home, Stella will need to be the only pup. While she has had positive experiences with other dogs, she does have some past trauma that can lead to her getting triggered by various things and lashing out on other dogs. She has done well around cats, but we would recommend a home without any other pets just to ensure her safety and the safety of other animals. We would not recommend a home with younger children, however we think she would do fine in a home with older children who are understanding and respectful of dogs boundaries. 

Stella likes to go on walks and does pretty good on leash. She is very smart and does well with learning and following commands. She definitely thrives on making her humans happy and proud! Stella really enjoys going on adventures, such as going to the beach. At the beach, she loves running around and playing. She has lots of energy so an adopter who will help her to get that energy out will be ideal for her. Stella is crate-trained and does well in her crate. She is also house-trained. She had a severe urinary tract infection at one point and this caused her to leak urine, however this has been treated through the use of hormones so the leaking does not happen anymore. 

Vetting and Medical

In our care, Stella has received all of the following: Vet Check, 1 or more Vaccines, Dental Exam, Medication (temporary – like for acute infection), Spay or Neuter, Nails Trimmed, Flea Treatments, Heart Worm testing and medication, Major Dental (cleaning and removal)

Stella is a very affectionate dog and loves spending her days curled up with her people on the couch and spending her nights snuggled up in the big bed. Stella loves car rides and will sit in your lap calmly throughout the drive. She is friendly when it comes to meeting new people, although she can be a little shy at first. We would recommend slow introductions with other dogs if she were to meet them, as her past has made her very cautious of other dogs.

She is ok in the presence of other animals, but in the home, she is too possessive to share the limelight with others. This little super star is active and enjoys walks with her people.
