Meet Doxie Mix Baby! Baby is 9 years old, weighs approximately 19 pounds, and cannot wait to meet her forever family. Baby is the sweetest pup who loves cuddling up with her humans and foster siblings, lounging by the pool, exploring the backyard, or going for a ride in the car! She is a happy girl who will make her forever family so happy too.

Baby does great around other dogs, both big and small. She definitely prefers the company of low energy dogs as opposed to higher energy dogs but she has done well with both. She loves cuddling up with her foster siblings and spending time with them. We are unsure how Baby would do with cats as she has not been around cats since coming to the rescue. We are also unsure how Baby would do with children as she hasn’t been around children since coming to the rescue but we think she would do great in a home with older children who are understanding and respectful of dog boundaries. Baby is such a mellow, laid-back girl that a home with small children would likely be too chaotic for her.

Baby does great on leash and enjoys short walks around the neighborhood. She is fully house-trained and does great with following a set schedule. She loves spending time in the backyard, especially lounging by the pool. She does not like the crate very much, but she does fine in there. She has rarely needed to be crated while at her foster home because she does wonderful free roaming when her foster parents are not home.

Even though she loves her people very much, she doesn’t mind spending some time apart from them. She shows no signs of separation anxiety. She has never been destructive in her foster home nor has she shown any food or toy aggression. Baby is not a big barker and only really barks when the other dogs start.

Vetting and Medical
In our care, Baby has received all of the following: Vet Check, 1 or More vaccines, Dental Exam, Medication (temporary – like for acute infection), Spay or Neuter, Major Surgery (such as cancer tumor removal), Flea Treatments, Heart Worm testing and medication, and Nails trimmed.
Health wise, there are some important things for Baby’s future adopter to know. Baby had ovarian cancer which was found during her spay after the vet noted abnormalities in her ovaries. During her spay, her ovaries were removed and sent off for testing. The veterinarian also looked at the lymph nodes and other surrounding areas near the ovaries and did not see any signs of spread. They believe they were able to remove everything cancerous when her ovaries were removed. However, it will be extremely important for her future adopter to be mindful of this and to plan to get yearly or twice yearly ultrasounds to ensure no signs of spread can be seen. Other than this, Baby is a very healthy dog for her age and she hasn’t let this minor setback slow her down.
We depend on donations from caring people, like you, to make a difference in the lives of dogs. As an all volunteer organization, you can rest assured that the donations go directly to help the dogs. Thank you!

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.
The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
