Adoptable Dachshund Casper – Low Rider Dachshund Rescue of Florida

Meet Adoptable Dachshund Casper! Casper is 10 months old, weighs approximately 9 pounds, and can’t wait to find her forever home. Casper truly lives up to her namesake- she really is the friendliest dog you’ll meet! She’s very playful and enjoys playing fetch with her toys, being outside, and people watching from the porch or patio. She definitely doesn’t let the fact that she can’t hear stop her from enjoying every single day.

Casper gets along with other pups, both big and small. We are unsure how she does with cats as she hasn’t been around any since coming to the rescue. She has done well around children as well and would do well in a home with children who are respectful of her boundaries.

Casper enjoys going on walks and does pretty well on leash. She still pulls a little, but that is to be expected with how young she is. She is easily redirected and will benefit from an adopter who is willing to continue working with her on these skills. She is house-trained and crate-trained as well. She loves sleeping in her crate and goes in with no issues. While she may be deaf, it hasn’t slowed down her training as she has already mastered basic commands like sit, lie down, come, and “crate”. She has shown no food or toy aggression while in her foster home.

She is not the biggest fan of car rides as she will get motion sick if she’s in the car for too long. This is something that may improve with age or can improve with the help of a veterinary professional. Casper is friendly when it comes to meeting new people and new pups.

Vetting and Medical

In our care, Casper has received all of the following: Vet Check, 1 or more Vaccines, Medication (temporary – like for acute infection), Spay or Neuter, Minor Surgery (such as removal of benign cyst). Casper is deaf.

We depend on donations from caring people, like you, to make a difference in the lives of dogs. As an all volunteer organization, you can rest assured that the donations go directly to help the dogs. Thank you!

Casper is fully deaf and because of this, she will benefit from an adopter who can be with her the majority of the time. She shows some signs of anxiety when her human isn’t near. She can be quite a barker as well, so an apartment would not be the ideal home for her. Because she cannot hear, she has no idea how loud her little barks can be! Something important for her adopter to know is that she does have a hernia- this does not impact her health at all but it will need to be removed at some point in the future. She is also allergic to lamb. This beautiful girl is the sweetest pup and is eager to grow and learn. Casper is a wonderful companion and deserves the right forever home! Adoption fee $400

If you believe you could provide a safe and loving forever home for this dog, please fill out an application with the dogs’ name on it.

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.

The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
