Meet Dachshund Mix Ernest! Ernest is 12 years old, approximately 19 pounds, and ready to find his forever family! Lovingly nicknamed “Ernie” by his foster family, this sweet senior is ready to find a family to share all his love and cuddles.
Ernest does like other small dogs and has gotten along well with them. His ideal home would be where he could be the solo pup and get all the attention his heart desires. Another mellow laid-back pup who doesn’t mind having a brother who loves all the attention would also work. He is not the best at sharing the attention, but does not mind being around other pups in general.
He actually came from a home with fourteen other dogs, so he wasn’t used to having much attention and now he just can’t get enough of it! We are unsure how he would do around bigger dogs as he hasn’t been around any since coming to the rescue. He has been around cats briefly and from a distance and has ignored them, but we are unsure how he would do living in the same home as a cat. He hasn’t been around any children since coming to the rescue so we aren’t sure how he’d do in a home with children.
Ernest is leash-trained, house-trained, and crate-trained. He uses the doggy door at his foster home and does a great job with letting himself out as needed. Ernest is used to sleeping in the dog bed at his foster home. He would probably enjoy sharing the big bed and some cuddles with his forever humans too! He enjoys car rides and does well with meeting new people and new dogs alike.
Vetting
In our care, Ernest has received all of the following: Vet Check, 1 or more Vaccines, Dental Exam, Nails Trimmed, Heart Worm testing and medication, Major Dental (cleaning and removal)

Ernest is not a big barker and shows no signs of separation anxiety. He has no problem being left alone for a bit when his humans are out of the house. When his humans are home with him, he is the happiest pup around. He loves sitting next to his people and getting all the pets and cuddles, chewing on bones, and giving kisses to show his humans how much he loves them. He will be a perfect addition to his forever family and deserves an amazing home to spend his golden years in. Adoption fee $150

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.
The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
