Adoptable dachshund Gordie came to Low Rider all the way from Texas where he was pulled from a high kill shelter! Kind volunteers helped to transport him to Florida so that he could become a Low Rider. He had been fearful at the shelter but settled in quickly in his foster home.

He was such a mess and had extremely matted fur and long nails. Once he felt safe, the groomer worked on his badly matted coat. See pictures before and after. Gordie is a handsome blonde Wirehaired Dachshund. He is working on house training but he has not totally gotten the hang of it. He will need a home with a patient person who can continue his training. This fella is TOTALLY WORTH IT!

Gordie gets along well with other dogs. A sweet soul, though not timid, he is submissive to other dogs. He has shown no interest in the cat at all. During his time in his foster home, Gordie has shown himself to be very gentle with children.

Walks are one of his favorite things! He does well on the leash and enjoys several walks a day. He is crate trained and sleeps in his dog bed. It’s possible that Gordie might prefer to sleep with his people, but that hasn’t been an option for him in his foster home. He’s a good sleeper and stays asleep all night without issues. He does fine on car rides.

He’s a good dog, his foster mom brags about him being “The BEST dog” with a good nature. Gordie doesn’t bark excessively, only at appropriate times. He shows no signs of separation anxiety. He’s just a happy, sweet boy. Maybe he knows he’s been given a second chance at life. He certainly deserves a home full of love!

Adoptable Dachshund Gordie – 14 yrs, 13 lbs
Gordie came to us from a shelter in Texas where he was said to be terrified. He is as sweet as can be and loves to follow his foster mom around wagging his tail. Despite the fact that no-one could touch him in the shelter, he had no trouble settling in and allowing his foster to pick him up and brush him etc. He may need some time to adjust to another new environment. Patience and a calm atmosphere will make a difference! Once this little guy warms up to you and knows he’s safe, he is the BEST DOG! Adoption fee $200
If you believe you could provide a safe and loving forever home for this dog, please fill out an application with the dogs’ name on it.
*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.
The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
