Meet Doxie Mix Kona! Kona is 2 years old, weighs approximately 29 pounds, and cannot wait to meet his forever family. Kona is a joy to be around and will add so much love and so much energy to his forever home!
Kona does great with other dogs, no matter their size. He plays well with all the other pups in his foster home and really enjoys hanging around with them. We are unsure how Kona would do with cats and children, as he hasn’t been around either since coming to the rescue. We think he would do well around older children who are understanding and respectful of dog boundaries. Kona definitely seems to be more comfortable around women, but he also does well around men who take it slow and work to gain his trust.

He is good on leash but definitely prefers the yard over walks. He really enjoys the backyard, so a fenced in backyard in his forever home would be ideal for him! He is house-trained and crate-trained. He’s even learned how to use the doggy door in his foster home and uses it like a pro. He has shown no food or toy aggression while in his foster home, he waits his turn very nicely when treats are being passed out. He is also not a big barker. He does not show any signs of separation anxiety and doesn’t mind spending some time apart from his humans.

He likes lounging around in the dog beds, but prefers spending the night cuddled up with his foster parents in the big bed. He absolutely loves cuddling! When it comes to car rides, he can be a little nervous but seems to be getting more and more comfortable with them the more he is exposed to them. He is very friendly when it comes to meeting new people and new pups! He absolutely loves getting belly rubs from new people and he becomes best friends with them in no time. As shared above, he does seem to prefer women over men but has done extremely well with both!

Doxie Mix Kona – 2 yrs, 29 lbs
Kona’s ideal home would be a home where one or more of his forever people are home a majority of the time. Kona’s past has not been ideal, but his foster family has been working extremely hard to make him feel secure and at ease and they have found he does best when spending lots of time with his humans. He will add so much love to his forever home and his forever people will truly feel like they’ve hit the jackpot! Adoption Fee $300
If you believe you could provide a safe and loving forever home for this dog, please fill out an application with the dogs’ name on it.
*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.
The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
