Adorable Mix Milo – Low Rider Dachshund Rescue of Florida

Meet Adorable Mix Milo! Milo is 3 years old, weighs approximately 15 pounds, and cannot wait to meet his forever family. Milo is a fun-sized bundle of energy with a whole lot of love to give! If you’ve been searching for a loyal adventure buddy who’s just as happy chasing a ball in the yard as he is snuggling up next to you on the couch- Milo might just be your perfect match.

Adorable Mix Milo

Milo enjoys being around other pups, no matter their size. He has been around lots of different dogs, both bigger than him and smaller than him, and has done great. He is a curious little pup and he likes to sniff around and observe the other pups before deciding that he’s ready to play! He also currently lives with a calm, independent 6-year-old female cat, and while it took about a month for them to adjust to each other, they’ve built a sweet bond. He can be energetic and occasionally a little too curious, but the cat does well redirecting him when needed. Now, after nearly three months together, he gives her gentle kisses and often lays beside her—they coexist peacefully and respectfully. He’s had limited exposure to children but has shown a playful and gentle demeanor. While he can get excited during play, he is not overly rough. We think he would do well in a home that has children who are understanding and respectful of dog boundaries.

Milo loves his walks and does great on leash! He enjoys exploring new places and absolutely loves going on hikes. On walks, he can sometimes take the lead and is a big fan of sniffing everything along the way. He is curious and always excited to take in new surroundings. He is mostly house trained and does very well when his people are home- he won’t have accidents as long as he’s taken out every few hours. However, when left alone, he does experience a lot of separation anxiety. Because of this, his foster family uses a diaper when they have to leave him alone as it seems that stress causes him to have accidents. With patience and continued structure, this is something he can grow through with the right support and routine. He is crate trained and is used to being crated when his foster family leaves the house as well as at bedtime sometimes. He can be a bit vocal in the crate at first, but otherwise is not a big barker. Milo has shown no food or toy aggression while in his foster home.

Milo loves sleeping in the big bed with his people and would love a forever home where he can spend his nights snuggled up with his forever family. He’s calm, quiet, and happiest when he’s curled up close. He does well for car rides and loves to snuggle up in his dog bed during trips. As friendly as he is, he can also be a bit shy when meeting new people and especially men. We like to say he’s a bit of a ladies’ man! At times, he may act timid, retreating or jumping close to you for reassurance. But with just a few minutes of patience and gentle energy, he warms up quickly and becomes best friends with his new friends. Once he feels safe, his affectionate and playful side shines through. He does wonderful with meeting new dogs and loves to show off to them just how good he can sniff.

Milo would do best in a home with a secure, fenced yard where he can run, play, and burn off his zoomies. He would thrive in a home where someone is home a majority of the time as well as a home where his forever family is committed to continuing working with him on his separation anxiety. Milo is a wonderful pup with so much love to give! Adoption fee $300
