Meet Duncan and Frankie – Low Rider Dachshund Rescue of Florida

Meet Duncan and Frankie! This bonded pair of 5 years old dachshunds are sweet as can be and they can’t wait to find their forever families. Duncan weighs 13 pounds and Frankie weighs 10 pounds. These sweet little pups are very active and playful and will add lots of love and action to their forever home! Duncan is black and tan with long hair and Frankie is a pretty silver color.

Duncan and Frankie

Duncan and Frankie get along well with other dogs, both big and small. They have shown curiosity towards the cat in their foster home but aren’t too interested in getting too close to it. The boys are great with children of all ages and would do wonderful in a home with children who are understanding and respectful of dog boundaries.

The boys will definitely need some further leash training in their forever homes, but they are making great progress in their foster home. It seems that before coming to the rescue, they had never walked on leash before so it was pretty unfamiliar to them. For this reason, a fenced yard is a must for them to keep them safe. They came to the rescue being pee-pad trained but have been making great progress with learning to use the bathroom outside. Their adopters will likely need to help the boys with further training in this area, but they are extremely smart pups and learn pretty quickly.

Duncan and Frankie

The boys can get very anxious when crated, but they have done much better when put in a large puppy pen instead. They have shown no food or toy aggression while in their foster home.

Duncan and Frankie

The boys do show signs of anxiety, but they have also gone through some major changes over the last few months so that is to be expected. They came from a hoarding situation so they are loving their newfound freedom and the individual attention they have been getting at their foster home. They like to be close to their humans and they can sometimes get very upset when their human is in another room and will whine for a while. They have gradually started feeling more secure in their foster home and this behavior has lessened, but it is important for their future adopter to know that they will have an adjustment period at their home as well.

Duncan and Frankie

Duncan and Frankie – 5 yrs, 13.7 lbs and 10.2 lbs

In their foster home, Duncan and Frankie spend their nights sleeping on dog beds. We bet they would love a forever home where they can share the big bed with their humans. They are not the biggest fan of car rides, but we expect this to improve over time as the car becomes more familiar to them. They are friendly when it comes to meeting new people and new pups! Fenced yard is a must! $600 adoption fee for both together.

If you believe you could provide a safe and loving forever home for this dog, please fill out an application with the dogs’ name on it.

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.

The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
