Adorable Dachshund Hotdog – Low Rider Dachshund Rescue of Florida

Meet Adorable Dachshund Hotdog! Hotdog is 7 months old, weighs approximately 8 pounds, and cannot wait to meet his forever family. Hotdog loves playing fetch, playing with toys, cuddling up to his foster siblings, and going on adventures. He will make a great companion for someone looking for a best friend that they can take anywhere!

Hotdog

Hotdog gets along with other dogs, both big and small! He loves to play with other dogs, but also can take a hint when they are not interested in playing and will relax right alongside them. One of his favorite activities is snuggling up with the other pups and sharing a bed. We are unsure how Hotdog would do with cats as he hasn’t been around cats since coming to the rescue. Hotdog has not been around children since coming to the rescue, but we think he would do great with children who are understanding and respectful of dog boundaries.

Hotdog is a very smart puppy and does well on leash. He loves going for walks around the neighborhood and sniffing all the different scents. In regard to house training, Hotdog is just about perfect here as long as he is let out every couple of hours during the day. At night, he does great for up to 10 hours. Hotdog is not a big barker and will only bark when the other dogs start.

Hotdog does get crated when his foster parents leave the house, but he is not a fan of the crate. He will bark and cry for a bit and then will calm down and sleep the rest of the time. Another area he will require more training in is the use of ramps- specifically going down there. He knows to go up them but will attempt to jump down without using the ramp so his foster family has been working extremely hard to teach him to use the ramp by rewarding him after each use. Hotdog does show some typical puppy behavior of course, like chewing the eyelets on a shoelace or doing some excited teething on his foster parents. He is easily redirected when these behaviors occur.

Hotdog sleeps on the big bed with his foster parents and foster siblings and loves spending his nights snuggled up with everybody. He loves sleeping in different dog beds throughout the day and can get comfy just about anywhere. Hotdog has shown no food or toy aggression while in his foster home. He absolutely LOVES toys, especially the squeaky and crinkly kind! He is always happy to share with his other foster siblings.

Hotdog does great in the car, he enjoys laying on a bed in the passenger seat and is pretty relaxed for all car rides. Hotdog is super friendly when it comes to meeting new people and new dogs too! He is not shy at all, he makes friends with everybody he meets within 60 seconds.

Hotdog does show signs of separation anxiety, especially when being crated. He is also known to cry a bit when he can hear his humans at home but cannot see them when they’re in another room. He loves his people so much, he doesn’t want to spend a moment without them! For this reason, Hotdog would benefit from an adopter who works from home or is home a majority of the time. Hotdog’s ideal forever home would also have a backyard as he has lots of puppy energy to get out and loves doing zoomies all throughout the backyard and laying out in the sun. $400 Adoption Fee

If you believe you could provide a safe and loving forever home for this dog, please fill out an application with the dogs’ name on it.

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.

The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
