Special Dachshund Marbles is 12 years old, weighs approximately 11 pounds, and cannot wait to find her forever home. She is the sweetest little pup with so much love to give. Although she has inoperable IVDD and rocks a wheelchair outdoors, Marbles has never let that slow her down!

Marbles has done great with all other dogs that she has met and lived with, including smaller dogs and dogs much bigger than her. We are unsure how Marbles would do with cats as she hasn’t been around cats since coming to the rescue, but we think she would do well around them. She also has not been around children since coming to the rescue, but she is a very gentle pup so we think she would do wonderful with gentle children.
Marbles is great on leash and absolutely loves taking walks in her wheelchair. She moves faster than you could imagine! Walks around the neighborhood are the highlight of her day. We are unsure if Marbles is crate-trained or not as she has not needed to be crated at all in her foster home. She does very well when left alone. In regard to house training, Marbles needs are a little different than the average pup due to her IVDD. She does use the bathroom on her own but she can’t always get all of her urine out on her own so she benefits from bladder expression. She also does wear diapers in the house as a precaution. She also rocks a drag bag around the house which just protects the back legs from getting too roughed up.

Marbles will sleep on a dog bed on the floor by the bed or will sleep on the bed and cuddle up with her humans. We think she definitely prefers sleeping with her humans all cuddled up on the big bed, but she does fine either way. She does love bouncing around from dog bed to dog bed throughout the day. Marbles shows no food or toy aggression but she does absolutely love food and is very treat motivated!
Vetting and Medical
In our care, Marbles has received all of the following: Vet check, 1 or more vaccines, Dental exam, Medication (temporary – like for acute infection), Nails trimmed, Heart worm testing and medication, and Major dental (cleaning and removal).
Medically, there are a few things to know when it comes to Marbles. She does have inoperable IVDD, meaning her back end is paralyzed. She gets around the house just fine without her wheelchair but does use her wheelchair outside. She does also have a heart murmur (grade 4) and an echocardiogram was done to determine that it was caused by mitral valve deficiency which does not affect her now nor does it require medicine. It may require medicine in the future or it may never require medicine, a yearly echocardiogram will need to be done to keep an eye on it.
We depend on donations from caring people, like you, to make a difference in the lives of dogs. As an all volunteer organization, you can rest assured that the donations go directly to help the dogs. Thank you!

Special Dachshund Marbles – 12 yrs, 11 lbs.
Marbles does great with car rides and seems to really enjoy them. She does good with meeting new people as well, but she can be a little shy at first. She does well meeting new dogs and wants to befriend every dog she meets. Marbles favorite things include spending lots of time with her humans and her foster pup friends, zooming around the neighborhood on wheelchair walks, spending time exploring every inch of the backyard, and eating the peanut butter out of stuffed kongs. Ideally, her forever home would provide all of these things for her! Adoption fee special needs $150 (additional donations welcome)
If you believe you could provide a safe and loving forever home for this dog, please fill out an application with the dogs’ name on it.
*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.
The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
