Doxie Mix Ezra – Low Rider Dachshund Rescue of Florida

Ezra

Meet Doxie Mix Ezra! Ezra is 12 years old, weighs approximately 12 pounds, and cannot wait to meet her forever family. Ezra loves cuddling up with her people, playing fetch with squeaky toys, and going on walks around the neighborhood. Don’t let Ezra age’s fool you, she has lots of energy and lots of love to give to her forever people!

Ezra

Ezra has done well around other small dogs, although she can get a little jealous when her humans are giving the other dog a lot of attention- who can blame her for that? She is not a playful pup but she co-exists well with other small, low-energy dogs. We are unsure how Ezra would do being around dogs significantly bigger than her as she hasn’t been around any since coming to the rescue but we think she would have no issues living with dogs bigger than her just as long as they are laid-back and low energy. Ezra has not been around cats since coming to her foster home, but she does show interest in the neighborhood cats when she is on walks. We are unsure of how she would do living in a home with a cat. Ezra does well with children, both younger and older.

Ezra enjoys her walks and does pretty well on leash. She does pull because she gets overly excited but she calms down as the walk progresses. It is recommended that she use a harness rather than a collar when on walks to help with this. Ezra can be a little reactive towards other dogs she sees on walks, so leashed greetings with other dogs should be kept to a minimum for her.

Ezra is house-trained and has had 0 accidents since coming to her foster home! Ezra is also crate trained, although the crate is not used often in her foster home as she does very well when given free roam. Ezra has shown no food or toy aggression while in her foster home. She is not a big barker at all and is generally a pretty quiet pup.

Ezra enjoys sleeping in the dog beds around her foster home during the day, but prefers to spend her nights snuggled up with her humans in the big bed! A forever home where she can sleep in the big bed at night would be her ideal situation. Ezra enjoys car rides and does well for them. She also does very well when meeting new people, she absolutely loves people especially when they are giving her attention! She has not met many other dogs while in her foster home, but she had no issue meeting her foster sibling. During the first few days in her foster home, she would display some jealous behaviors when her foster sibling was receiving attention from her foster parents but this has subsided over time.

Vetting and Medical

In our care, Ezra has received all of the following: Vet Check, 1 or more Vaccines, Dental Exam, Medication (temporary – like for acute infection), Skin treatments/ infections, Nails Trimmed, Heart Worm testing and medication, Major Dental (cleaning and removal)

Regarding Ezra’s health, she is a pretty healthy pup for her age! She is on prescription kidney food as she was reported to have had kidney surgery for kidney stone removal prior to coming to the rescue. Ezra has allergies and requires Cytopoint injections or some other form of allergy management in order to combat these. Ezra will also need frequent dental monitoring/cleaning because of crown and enamel defects. She will also require blood work testing every six to twelve months to monitor triglycerides and liver values.

We depend on donations from caring people, like you, to make a difference in the lives of dogs. As an all volunteer organization, you can rest assured that the donations go directly to help the dogs. Thank you!

Ideally, Ezra’s perfect forever home would be a home where she is the only dog or a home where there are one or two other low-energy dogs. It would also be a home where someone is able to play with her often to get her energy out, as she has the energy of a much younger pup.  Adoption fee $150

If you believe you could provide a safe and loving forever home for this dog, please fill out an application with the dogs’ name on it.

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.

The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
