Meet Dachshund Cody – Low Rider Dachshund Rescue of Florida

Meet Dachshund Cody! Cody is 12 years old and weighs in at 12 pounds. Cody is a very sweet laid-back little guy just searching for a home and a family to call his own for his golden years. 

Cody has done well around other dogs, both big and small. Cody has not been around cats since coming to the rescue, but we think he would do well with them since he is such a laid back pup. He is very mellow and generally just not very interested in his surroundings, so other animals don’t seem to bother him one bit. Cody also has not been around young children since coming to the rescue, but again we do think he would do just fine here if the children are respectful of his boundaries. 

Cody enjoys walks and does very well on leash. He walks slowly and just soaks in every moment! Cody is potty trained and has done super well with being on a consistent schedule in his foster home. We are unsure if he is crate trained as he has not needed to be crated while in his foster home. He has shown no food or toy aggression while in his foster home. He is not a big barker at all and only barks when other dogs start. 

Cody enjoys lounging on the dog beds during the day but he much prefers the comfort of the big bed and snuggling up with his humans at night. Cody’s ideal home would be one where they allow him to snuggle up with them every night! He enjoys car rides and prefers to spend them cuddled up on someone’s lap. He’s very friendly when it comes to meeting new people and new pups! He’s not big on toys or games, he spends most of his days just lounging around and enjoying being near his people.

In our care, Cody has received all of the following: Vet Check, 1 or more Vaccines, Dental Exam, Medication (temporary – like for acute infection), Skin treatments/ infections, Nails Trimmed, Major Dental (cleaning and removal)

Cody loves his people so much and would spend every second with them if it was up to him! He does have some separation anxiety, so his ideal home would include someone being home a majority of the time so his alone time is kept to a minimum. He also has some skin allergies, but these have greatly improved with medicated baths and cytopoint injections. As with most pups his age, Cody’s eyesight isn’t the best but he still gets around pretty well. He has also had all his teeth removed as a result of severe dental disease so he does require wet food for all his meals. Despite these few differences, Cody will still make his forever family feel like the luckiest adopters in the world! Adoption Fee $200
