Introducing dachshund Zeus. He is a great dog, well behaved, gets along with all the small dogs in his foster home. Zeus loves to stick with his human. He is crazy about belly rubs and kisses.
Although he is shy at first, as most fosters are, this friendly fella warms up pretty quickly! He is potty trained and walks on a leash with ease.
Zeus is a gentle soul who most likely would be fine with well trained children but we have not witnessed this in his foster environment. We also aren’t sure as to how he would respond to cats but he did well going in and out of the vets office.

Unfortunately, Zeus’s weight was allowed to get out of control. He should not weigh anywhere near what he does and is now on a strict diet. Additional exercise and someone who will help him reach his ideal weight and maintain it is extremely important. Currently, he is in good health.
A crate has not been used with Zeus as he is such a gentleman, it has not been needed. He uses a dog bed during the day and enjoys sleeping with his human at night.
Vetting
In our care he has received Vet Check, 1 or more Vaccines, Dental Exam, blood tests and thyroid test. He is on allergy medicine Apoquel which will need to be given once a day. The medicine is about 45.00 for 60 pills. Also, he needs to maintain a strict weight control diet with food that is for weight control. It can be over the counter but just needs to be weight management.
If you would like to make a donation towards Low Rider’s ongoing vet expenses, it is greatly appreciated.

Zeus is a well behaved sweetheart. At first he is shy but when he feels comfortable he will follow you every where and ask for rubs and kisses. He is overweight and needs to continue to a strict feeding schedule. Other than that he is completely healthy. This handsome fella is going to make a wonderful companion for someone who is committed to getting his weight down. He loves to look out the window and loves to sleep in the bed, But beware he snores! Adoption fee $300
If you believe you could provide a safe and loving forever home for this dog, please fill out an application with the dogs’ name on it.
*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.
The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
