Adoptable Dachshund Cooper – Low Rider Dachshund Rescue of Florida

Meet adoptable dachshund Cooper! Cooper is a handsome 12 year old boy, weighing in at only 11 pounds. He loves other dogs and is super friendly with them. While he hasn’t been around large dogs, he’s done great with all small and medium dogs that he has met.

Adoptable Dachshund Cooper

He enjoys going up to other dogs and saying hello! He also does well with cats, he has been exposed to many while in his foster home and just ignores them. We are not sure how he would do with kids as he hasn’t been exposed to any while in his foster home, but we think he’d do totally fine with older children who understand and respect boundaries.

Cooper

Cooper is great on leash and loves going for walks. Even when off leash, he always stays by his person’s side. Cooper’s foster family has been working very hard on getting him fully potty trained, but his adopter will need to understand that he will require further training in this area. We are unsure if Cooper is crate trained or not as he has not needed to be crated while in his foster home. No food or toy aggression has been seen while in his foster home.

Cooper loves his dog beds but prefers to spend the night snuggled up with his humans in the big bed. Cooper would love a home where his adopters let him sleep right by their side. He also loves car rides and does great in the car sitting in his doggy booster seat. He relaxes and enjoys the ride each time! He is great when meeting new people and is a favorite within his apartment complex, neighbors even ask to take Cooper on walks as he is so sweet and they all love spending time with him. He is also always friendly when meeting new dogs!

Cooper is deaf, but he does not let that slow him down. He can follow different hand signals. His lack of hearing truly doesn’t seem to have much of an effect, if any, on his daily life. He also required a major dental surgery and had all but two teeth removed. He still has the cutest little smile around! He is not a big barker and shows no signs of separation anxiety.

Vetting

In our care, Cooper has received all of the following: Vet Check, 1 or more Vaccines, Dental Exam, Medication (temporary – like for acute infection), Nails Trimmed, Heart Worm testing and medication, Major Dental (cleaning and removal)

At Low Rider, we’re making every dollar count for the dogs. With the use of foster homes, all volunteers, and very little overhead, donations mainly go directly to the vet bills and care of the dogs. If you are able to help make the difference for a rescue dog, it is greatly appreciated.

If you believe you could provide a safe and loving forever home for this dog, please fill out an application with the dogs’ name on it.

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.

The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
