Sharon Alton is researching the relationship between on-lead behaviour and IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease) in Dachshunds for her thesis project for her Masters Degree in Clinical Animal Behaviour at the University of Lincoln.
She has asked if we could circulate this anonymous survey for owners of dachshunds to complete. Your participation should take between 10-20 minutes and is completely voluntary.
This survey is aimed at people who currently share their lives with a dachshund or those who have shared their lives with a dachshund within the past 2 years.
She is specifically requesting input from those who may have lost or rehomed their dachshund recently in order to ensure the most comprehensive overview possible. She understands that it might be too painful to complete this questionnaire for a dog you have lost or rehomed, and thanks you for your interest thus far.
This survey is investigating the relationship between on lead behaviour and IVDD. IVDD is used as a ‘catch all’ term to cover any incidences of back issues in the breed.
Your dachshund does not need to have suffered with IVDD to take part. Once again, it is important for us to gather as much information as possible on the whole population of dachshunds.
You are eligible to complete the survey if you are over 18 and the legal owner of the dachshund for which you are completing the survey.
If you still live with your dachshund, he / she must have lived with you for at least 1 year. If you no longer live with a dachshund, you need to have lost/rehomed the dachshund/s for which you are completing the survey less than 2 years ago and have lived with him / her for at least a year prior to that.
Thank you for taking the time to complete the survey.
