Tripawd Mix Benito

Meet Tripawd Mix Benito, the sweet and courageous dachshund mix who’s ready to fill your home with love and cuddles! Benito likes dogs with proper introduction. He has done well with female dogs and has a female friend in his foster home. But with male dogs, he may exhibit some alpha behavior as experienced by the previous foster. He will do well as an only dog or with a small female friend.

It is unknown as to how Benito responds to young children and cats. It is likely that with proper introduction and careful supervision, he would do well with a larger female dog, but in our care he has only been around the small female in his foster home.

Benito does well on the leash. He can be quite the barker. He appears to be a little scared and tentative with his surroundings. He seems to bark loudly at many things but he doesn’t pull on his leash. He’s just talking about what he sees on his walking adventure!

Despite walking with only 3 limbs, he is great at walks. He is very busy, sniffing around, marking his territory. He is quite active and can run pretty fast too.He is house trained and great on a walking schedule.

Benito

Benito sleeps in a dog bed. He knows his bed and knows when it’s time to sleep. He gets “tucked in” by his foster mom and he knows it’s bedtime. Gentle natured, he has not shown any aggression over toys or food. On car rides, he is mostly quiet and timid. It seems to scare him, but he is well-behaved.

Benito

When meeting new people, he isn’t overly friendly, but shy. He is not aggressive but is tentative around new faces. He is afraid mostly, but once you are introduced, he is the sweetest little dog! Like many rescue dogs, he just needs a slow and quiet introduction and a bit of patience so he can be comfortable showing his love.

Benito

While he doesn’t show signs of separation anxiety, he is easily startled by loud noises. This can lead to some temporary excessive barking, like with many dogs. A quiet environment is important for him to feel secure, but he seems to do well enough when left alone for a time. Therefore he doesn’t require someone home all the time.

Vetting

In our care he has received: Vet Check, 1 or more Vaccines, Dental Exam, Medication (temporary – like for acute infection), Spay or Neuter, Nails Trimmed, HeartWorm testing and medication. Benito also underwent major surgery to have his severely injured front leg removed.

When Benito came to Low Rider, his leg was badly damaged. The sad and unfortunate thing is that it had been left untreated for too long. It wasn’t healing properly and would have continued to give him pain and other problems. Fortunately, he has bounced right back and has recovered like a champ! Benito doesn’t let his missing limb slow him down!

We appreciate any and all contributions to help with the work we do for the dogs. With very little overhead (dogs are housed in foster homes) it’s the vet bills on which we need the most assistance.

Tripawd Mix Benito – 4 yrs, 18 lbs

Tripawd Mix Benito – Despite having lost his front right leg, Benito has an incredibly positive spirit. He’s a gentle boy who loves nothing more than following you around, showering you with affection, and snuggling on the couch. While he can be a bit tentative and wary of new situations due to past traumas, he’s a brave little warrior who just needs a safe and loving home to show his true, trusting self. Benito is house-trained, doesn’t suffer from separation anxiety, and gets along well with female dogs (though he can be a little alpha at times). If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will adore you, Benito is the one! *Available December 1 – $250 Adoption Fee
