Meet Bruno! Dachshund Bruno is an adorable 8 year old dachshund weighing in at 13 pounds. He is a sweet boy who is in search of the perfect forever family. Described as “one of the sweetest dogs I’ve ever met” by his foster mom, Bruno is a very happy and healthy little guy! His foster mommy calls him Roscoe.
Bruno has gotten along great with the other small dog in his foster home. They play together during the day and sleep together at night. We think Bruno would do great with another small dog or two that match his energy level, but we are unsure how he would do with bigger dogs as he has not been around any since coming to the rescue. Bruno has gotten along well with the cats inside his foster home as well, but he does get a bit overly excited when seeing outdoor cats on his walks and needs to work on this. He has not been around children of any age while in his foster home, so we are unsure how he would do with children. Ideally, we would like him to go to a home without small children.
Bruno is as cute and as sweet as can be, but he does need some work in a few areas in order to become the best dog that he can be! While Bruno absolutely loves his walks, he is still working on his leash manners. He likes to pull and wants to go wherever he wants to go, especially if he sees a neighborhood cat. He is still working on his house training but has made great progress since going to his foster home. It will be important for his adopter to establish a solid routine for this in order to get him fully house trained. We are unsure if Bruno is crate-trained or not as he has not required being crated while in his foster home. He does seem to have slight separation anxiety. He cries a lot when his foster mom leaves the house as he’s a very people-oriented dog. Bruno can be protective of his bones and his food, so feeding separately from other dogs in the house is a must for him.
At nighttime, Bruno loves to cuddle up with his people and his other four-legged friend. He would love an adopter who will let him sleep with them on the big bed each night! Bruno also loves car rides and adventures with his humans. Bruno loves meeting new people and is very friendly towards everyone he meets. When his foster family has guests over, Bruno becomes best friends with them in no time. When it comes to meeting new dogs, Bruno’s reaction has been mixed depending on the dog. Slow introductions to other dogs will be key for him. Bruno is not a big barker and listens very well when foster mom tells him “no” when his foster brother barks and he follows suit.
Vetting
In our care, Bruno has received all of the following: Vet Check, 1 or more Vaccines, Dental Exam, Spay or Neuter, Nails Trimmed, Flea Treatments, Heart Worm testing and medication
Dachshund Bruno – 8 yrs, 13 lbs
Bruno’s foster mom says he is very smart and has been making so much progress while in her care, so we know he will be able to pick up on more training in no time. We think Bruno would thrive in a home with a fenced in backyard where he gets lots of supervised outdoor time, as he really seems to appreciate this in his foster home! He requires an adopter who will understand that he needs further training to become the perfect pup. a.k.a. Roscoe – Adoption fee $250

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.
The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
