Adoptable Dachshund Zoey 2 is a very pleasant and loving dog. She seems to cling to the male owner more than the female and likes to have both around her most of the time.
Zoey does whine when left alone and will sometimes bark. She hasn’t been in her foster home very long and it takes time to adjust and feel confident. Even so, she became comfortable with her foster family very quickly. She enjoys car rides and going along for the adventure with her foster parents. Zoey lays quietly on the back seat the entire time.
A couple of things that are really important to Zoey, she likes sleeping in bed with her owners. This is what she was accustomed to in her previous 9 years with her owner. She was also used to having a doggy door out to a fenced yard and enjoyed laying outside watching the birds and the squirrels. She could also let herself out when she needed to potty. She doesn’t have that with us so she is getting used to having to signal when she needs to go by whining near the door. Either way, a yard is important to Zoey.
When out on walks, Zoey does very well on the leash and is well-behaved. After an initial adjustment period of a couple of days, she is fully house-trained. It was previously reported that she is food and toy aggressive. As with any dog, it’s important to be cautious until you are sure of how they react. She has been loving and gentle with her foster parents.
Like most dachshunds, when new people approach the house, she will bark for a bit and then settle down. She makes a terrific little guard dog in this way!
Vetting
In our care she has received: Vet Check, Nails Trimmed, Flea Treatments, Heart Worm testing and medication.
All dogs who come into the care of Low Rider receive full vetting. Many receive life saving or life altering surgeries. If you can assist with vetting expenses, it is greatly appreciated. We have very little overhead, except for vet bills.

Zoey is a loving dogs who would like to have someone around her most of the time. She loves to lay in the yard and spend time outside. Previously, she used a doggie door to access her fenced yard and enjoyed sleeping in the bed with her family. She does not respond well to little humans and should be kept on a leash around anyone under the age of 5, just to be safe. It is unknown as to how she does with cats and other dogs.
