Adoptable Mix Helga is a sweet girl who underwent major life-saving surgery upon coming to the rescue. She suffered from massive bladder stones that had been un-treated. It took a lot out of her, but she is doing well now!
Helga largely ignores other dogs and cats. She doesn’t seem to mind dogs big or small but isn’t hugely interactive with them. When meeting new people she stands back and waits nicely. Once’s she’s met you, she’s happier and more engaged when she sees you a second time.
She’s good on the leash, although she does need some more practice. Helga enjoys her walks and will follow you anywhere! Helga wants to be with her person.
Helga does not enjoy the crate and becomes frantic. She is a very good sleep partner. She’ll sleep in a dog bed on the floor but prefers the big bed. She goes to the door when you do you morning shower routine waiting nicely for you to finish.
True to her breed she’ll need a ramp to get on and off the furniture. She’s had bladder stones removed. That health issue encouraged poor housebreaking. Helga will use pee pads. She does eat her poop. She doesn’t do it everyday. It may stop given her diet and health are better. Adherence to scheduled potty breaks will help, also. She will have to eat soft food because 9 teeth were removed. The teeth were mostly molars. She’s slightly nearsighted.
In our care they have received: Vet Check, 1 or more Vaccines, Dental Exam, Medication (temporary – like for acute infection), Major Surgery – Live Saving, Nails Trimmed, Heart Worm testing and medication, Major Dental (cleaning and removal)
Every dog who is rescued by Low Rider is fully vetted and receives the care they need to gain a new “leash” on life! If you can assist with vetting expenses, it is greatly appreciated!
Like most doxie breed dogs, she likes her food! She has not been aggressive with it though. She hasn’t shown aggression at all.

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.
The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
