Adoptable Dachshund Reesie – Low Rider Dachshund Rescue of Florida

Adoptable Dachshund Reesie is full of life and lives to play! She has nothing but love to give and will stick to you like glue. She enjoys being with her foster brothers especially on walks.

She is a beautiful milk chocolate, dapple dachshund with many typical dachshund traits. She’s sometimes stubborn, imagine that! Reesie doesn’t show any shyness or timidness. She is very playful and seems to enjoy socializing.

Reesie

Friendly when meeting new dogs, Reesie gets along well with others. She has been friendly when meeting new people in her foster home. In a large group setting, she may be a little bit more leary of strangers, but she’s such a sweet dog. There have been no signs of aggression.

During transport, she did well in a crate. On shorter trips in the car she seems to be a little nervous but on longer trips in the crate she appeared to be fine.

Though not aggressive, Reesie has some resource guarding indications. She doesn’t want people to take away her toys and she doesn’t want other dogs to get her food.

Adoptable Dachshund Reesie

Reesie prefers to sleep with her peopel but also does sleep in her own bed. She will whine to let you know she wants to sleep with you. Care should be taken with extra wide steps or a safety ramp.

While she is crate trained, she is well behaved enough that her foster mom has not had the need to use the crate in the house. Reesie loves to take short walks. If the walk is too long, she will lay down to rest. She is doxie stubborn and tends to let you know when she is ready to walk or which direction at times.

Adoptable Dachshund Reesie

There are some minor signs of separation anxiety with Reesie. She so badly wants to be with her person that she will whine when she can’t be. Not an excessive barker, Reesie barks only when the doorbell rings or someone is walking by the house outside.

In our care she has received: Vet Check, 1 or more Vaccines, Dental Exam, Medication (temporary – like for acute infection), Skin treatments/ infections. Upon arrival to Low Rider, Reesie was taken immediately to emergency. Her nails had grown into her little paws becoming deeply imbedded. The paws were badly infected and swollen.
